As the HMIC (Head Matriarch in Charge) on The Real Housewives of New Jersey, Caroline Manzo has had her share of throwdowns — first with cast mate Danielle Staub during Seasons 1 and 2 — and now with former friend-turned-frenemy, Teresa Giudice.

While most of the drama during Season 4 — which kicked off on April 22 — will probably focus on the tension between Teresa and the rest of the women, Caroline was all about keeping things positive when we ran into her at the third anniversary celebration for the Chandelier Room at the W Hoboken.

She opened up to us about some of the happier developments in her life … and how bad things would have to get for her to walk away from the show.

Wetpaint Entertainment: You’ve been quoted as saying that if it ever got to be too much, you’d walk away from the show. What did you mean by that?

Caroline: What I meant by that is that if it ever got to the point where the show affected my life as Albert’s wife or as Albie, Lauren and Christopher’s mom, I’d leave. Because at the end of the day that’s all that matters to me. So right now we’re having fun, I get to do amazing things because of this television show — but I also have heartache because of this television show. But that’s life. The moment it affects my family life, I am done.

Let’s focus on happier news. Your brother Jamie is getting married on the show this season …

My brother Jamie has been with his partner Richard about 15 or 16 years. They live in Chicago. They always said that when the law was passed in New York they’d get married. The law was passed, but they weren’t able to get to New York, so they had a commitment ceremony in Chicago. Bravo was kind enough to cover it and I think it’s wonderful they supported it in a very lovely way. It’s going to be really nice.

What can you tell us about your relationship with your sister Dina right now?

My relationship with Dina is something I will keep personal. My parents are old. I don’t want to hurt them. Whatever anybody else puts out there, let them put out there. Whatever anyone else wants to believe about me, let them believe it. I will take the beating. But I will not hurt my baby sister and I will not hurt my parents.

We see a little of Dina in the previews for Season 4. Do you think she’d ever rejoin the show as a cast member?

I don’t know. I don’t overthink things. I worry about what I have to do and what my role is. Beyond that I don’t ask, I don’t know.

But it seems like life in the Manzo/Laurita family is pretty good these days!

Life is good. Life is definitely good.
