Dina Manzo may have left The Real Housewives of New Jersey several seasons ago, but the show has made a lasting negative impact on her family. Still, Dina’s thoughts about the show are complex. While she’s happy she exited when she did, Dina also acknowledges that the show provided her with other opportunities she may not have otherwise been afforded.
During a chat with Celebuzz, Dina firsts addressed her controversial decision to leave the show, stating, “I don’t regret it, and I’m so happy I did leave. I had to be true to myself. Everyone thought I was crazy walking away from a super-successful show, and all the red carpets you’re invited to. But it wasn’t me. I wasn’t going home from work every day happy — and that, to me, is very important.”
Instead, Dina traded in reality drama for her own show on HGTV and a new scripted show which will begin filming soon, and she is well-aware of Housewives’ role in those opportunities.
However, it’s clear that Dina does hold the show at least partially responsible for her fractured relationships with certain family members. “I’m not thrilled with what the show did with my relationships with a few of my family members,” she revealed, “but I’m confident one day when the show is over, we’ll be back to normal. We’re waiting to see this pass.”
Even though Dina doesn’t mention any family members by name, we certainly know one sister she’s referring to.
