Their knock-down, drag-out, mother/daughter fights have made for heartbreaking drama in the past, but these days, Real Housewives of New Jersey star Jacqueline Laurita says she and daughter Ashlee Holmes are doing better than ever.

Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with Jacqueline (looking super slim and sleek) at the three-year anniversary party for the Chandelier Room at the W Hoboken, where she told us all about her and Ashlee’s surprising fresh start — and how much of it we’ll get to see this season.

Wetpaint Entertainment: So things with you and Ashlee are good?

Jacqueline Laurita: Yes! They’re really good.

Wetpaint Entertainment: Where is she and what is she up to?

She moved to L.A. and she’s living in Hollywood. She’s working and she’s realizing what it’s really like to live on your own. She understands what things cost and she’s starting to appreciate things more. She calls me all the time and asks for advice.

The distance has really helped our relationship. We talk, we Skype and we’re getting along great. She was here for three weeks and then I went to visit her out there.

Wetpaint Entertainment: Last season on the show, you seemed opposed to her moving out to California. What changed?

She made the decision to go there. I really wanted her to move to Texas where she has family and she could go to school and work. But she took the initiative to move to L.A. on her own and that took a lot of courage on her part. I was worried sick, but it’s really worked out for the best.

Wetpaint Entertainment: Will we be seeing a lot of Ashlee this season?

Not as much as last year. You’ll see a couple of episodes with her but then she’s gone.
