On last night’s episode of Bethenny Ever After, Bethenny Frankel spoke candidly about her biological father, Bobby Frankel, during her weekly session with her therapist, Dr. Amador.
Bethenny didn’t mince her words when talking about her father — whom she only ever referred to as Bobby — saying they never had a real relationship and she never viewed him as a father figure.
Brooklyn-born Bobby may have had a difficult time being a father, but Bethenny’s biological dad was actually a very accomplished thoroughbred horse trainer. At the time of his death, Bobby’s barn had won $227,947,775 in winnings from various high-profile horse races including the Belmont Stakes and the Breeders’ Cup.
Bobby was married and divorced twice, most recently to Bonita Boniface, but Bethenny is his only child.
He died of leukemia in 2009 at the age of 68. Despite the fact that they didn’t have much of a relationship, Bethenny was by her father’s side in his Pacific Palisades home when he passed away.
