This biggest feud on The Real Housewives of New York Season 5 started out as a friendship, but has quickly dissolved into deep resentment. We're talking, of course, about Aviva Drescher and Ramona Singer. In a new video interview with Us Weekly, Aviva opens up about her giant fight with Ramona and Sonja, and why she's still on bad terms with the duo.
Aviva starts the video by emphasizing that she normally doesn't resort to name calling, so referring to Ramonja as "white trash" was out of character. "I was so incensed, and it just slipped out," she confesses. "It's like there was no connection between the brain and the mouth."
She goes on to explain that "what was really behind those words that I used was tremendous hurt and disappointment in these women that I thought were my friends, and ultimately set me up to fail."
By that, Aviva means that she thinks Ramona and Sonja displayed a startling lack of empathy by expressing their annoyance that Reid came with her to the St. Barts "girls" trip. She reiterates that she needed Reid to get on the plane. "What kind of a friend can't understand that?" she wonders.
As for present day? Yep, these three are still on bad terms. "I get along with everybody except for Ramona and her puppet — I mean, Sonja," she dishes, before noting that "Ramona is notoriously insensitive and inappropriate."
