On last night’s The Real Housewives of New York (Season 5, Episode 9: "Dirty Ol' Dad"), it was pretty obvious that new girls Carole Radziwill and Aviva Drescher were getting tired of Ramona Singer and Sonja Morgan’s sexy, loud, saucy schtick. And in Carole’s BravoTV blog, the princess makes her distaste known in the wittiest ways possible.
Regarding the scene when Ramona arrives at Carole’s friend Ranjana’s grand, gorgeous Miami penthouse and immediately starts doling out advice on the housing market, Carole writes, “Bunny, sweetness, stick to Pinot. Ramona on real estate is like Donald Trump going on about toaster ovens. Who cares what he thinks?”
Carole also keeps up her end of the deal with Aviva — in the episode, Aviva and Carole came to an agreement that whenever Ramona started going on and on about Aviva’s leg, Carole would rise to the occasion and tell Ramona to just quit it.
In her blog, Carole does just that, explaining, “[Aviva] knows what she can and can’t do with [her prosthesis], because she’s had it since she was six … In a social setting, with friends, the last thing she wants to talk about — much less dwell on — is her leg.” Carole is of course referring to the scenes (yes, plural) when Ramona literally started screaming at Aviva not to get her leg wet.
Carole also gets a dig in at LuAnn de Lesseps. In one scene, Carole confronted LuAnn about her asking to wear one of Carole’s friend Naeem Khan’s dresses for free. We thought the scene was handled in a very mature, sophisticated way, and Carole almost lets it slide without comment.
But in her blog, she refers to the practice of famous women who showcase high-end designers in fashion magazines (think Reese Witherspoon wearing an Armani gown on the cover of Elle). Carole writes, “LuAnn, though, is not any of the above nor is she sitting for Vogue.” Meow!
Do you think Carole’s subtle digs at the old guard RHONY stars are hovering dangerously close to Mean Girls territory, or do you think they’re fair game?
The Real Housewives of New York airs Mondays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo.
