On last night’s The Real Housewives of New York (Season 5, Episode 6: "I'm UK, You're UK"), we detected some tension between the two ladies with royal titles: Countess LuAnn de Lesseps and Princess Carole Radziwill. And we weren’t the only ones to notice, as Sonja Morgan pointed out in various confessionals.

First, when LuAnn, Carole, and Sonja took a car from the airport to their London hotel, Sonja called out Carole for looking like a “sex kitten” in her fingerless leather gloves, sunglasses, and cape. LuAnn, in her haughtily regal way, said, “I demand to know who the sex kitten is!” She seemed to be making a kind of joke, using a faux-British accent, but all she got was a very awkward moment.

Speaking of LuAnn’s case of the Madonnas, Carole mentioned in a confessional that it was starting to irritate her. Sure, she said, she liked British accents. “On British people.” Point taken!

Then, as the girls strolled through Notting Hill, Carole pointed out the gorgeous white townhouse where she used to live. LuAnn took the opportunity to point out that she, too, had been considering getting a place in London around the same time. Carole took to the confessional again, saying that she felt like LuAnn always had to have the last word on everything.

The same thing happened when the girls found themselves at the end of a Yummie Tummie celebration dinner with their hostess Heather Thomson. Carole felt awkward standing up to tell a group of strangers why she loves Yummie, so she sat. LuAnn, up next, made a point to stand, and even announced that she would stand “like everybody else.” Tense, much?
