Last night’s episode of The Real Housewives of New York (Season 5, Episode 12: "All How You Spin It") seemed to cement the split between the new girls and the old girls. Once again, two newbies (Carole Radziwill and Aviva Drescher) faced off against Ramonja (Ramona Singer and Sonja Morgan), and the results weren’t pretty.

But for the first time, there was a major battle between castmates on the same team, namely Aviva and Heather Thomson. And a new tweet suggests that producers may have had a hand in it.

To refresh your memory, all the girls were at a townhouse party, and Heather overheard Ramona and Aviva talking about Jacques’s French accent in a mocking tone. (Jacques is LuAnn de Lesseps’s long-term boyfriend.) Heather decided to confront Aviva right away, saying that she didn’t approve, and that’s when Ramona got involved and Heather called Ramona Mario’s “crazy wife” to Mario's face.

For some reason, Aviva was vehemently defending Ramona, attacking Heather for calling her crazy. But even cool Carole admitted in a confessional, “Aviva overreacted. Ramona in that situation was acting like a crazy person.”

Heather had the line of the night when she looked quizzically at Aviva and said, “What, is [Ramona] paying you? What the frick?”

During last night’s episode, Aviva tweeted, “I wanted to defend Heather,” while that scene played. She also suggested that producers may have been involved in her decision, writing, “we r encouraged to pick a side and stay with it. I had already picked ramonas.”

Hmm... That would explain a lot, actually. Fortunately, Heather and Aviva have since made up. Later during the episode, Aviva tweeted, “See! @iamHeatherT survived a little spat!” Heather tweeted back, “true dat!!”

Like soldiers forced into battle together who make it out alive, these newbie castmates are bonded for life.

The Real Housewives of New York airs Mondays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo.
