New Real Housewives of New York cast member Heather Thomson didn’t exactly come off as the girl you want to be best friends with on the Season 5 premiere (Season 5, Episode 1: “A New New York”). Now her sister is coming out of the woodwork to defend Heather from any sort of Debbie Downer image she may have given off.

In former Housewife Alex McCord’s first video blog on RumorFix, where she’ll be recapping the new episodes, Alex said that Heather “didn’t stand a chance,” and probably got the worst edit of all the new girls. And it’s true that almost every scene with Heather in it featured the Yummie Tummie founder talking about somebody who died, or her son’s unfortunate liver disease.

But Shelly, Heather’s sister, tells RumorFix, “I can promise you Heather does not talk about death and liver transplants, etc. all of the time.” She assures everyone, “She doesn’t just bring up things like that out of the blue. I’m sure something was said that made her bring it up.”

Is Shelly suggesting that the editing elves at Bravo are turning her sister into a doomsday character? We’ve heard stranger things, so it’s possible!
