For the most part, the castmates on The Real Housewives of New York Season 5 seem to be happy people, even if they don't always get along. There are plenty of spats, but once they walk away from the scene of the fight, the Housewives' personal lives seem perfectly intact.

However, former castmate Jill Zarin tells Celebuzz a whole different story.

“I’m not going to name names,” Jill says. “But what I will say is that [the current castmates] are miserable and going through a really, really hard time.”

Whoa! Jill goes on to say, “They hear what other people think of them or say about them and it hurts … Sometimes it’s the truth and the truth can hurt too.”

It sounds like Jill is referring to the massive social media attention given to the ladies while the show is on. Perhaps new girls Heather Thomson, Aviva Drescher, and Carole Radziwill didn’t realize just how closely their every move would be scrutinized while on the air. For example, Aviva recently apologized profusely for merely bringing up a topic of conversation on Season 5, Episode 11: “This Party Is Toast”.

“It’s unnatural for you to know what other people are thinking,” Jill went on to say. “We all go through life through rose-colored glasses. Could you imagine if you could actually hear people’s thoughts?”

Thanks to Twitter, we sort of can.

The Real Housewives of New York airs Mondays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo.
