Former Real Housewives of New York star Jill Zarin has finally weighed in on the recent separation between Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Adrienne Maloof and her husband Dr. Paul Nassif.

After tweeting earlier in the week about the incident and indicating that the show might’ve had a hand in their break-up (“I heard about my BH friends. I hope not true as I love them together. Honestly being on a reality show couldn't help if problems already,” she wrote), she appeared on her weekly segment of Good Afternoon America today to elaborate on her theory.

Well, I have a lot of mixed feelings about it. First of all, my heart goes out to them and their family and their loved ones. I was actually surprised to a certain extent. Watching the show, though, I did see a lot of this bickering going on and passive-aggressive behavior. So, when I heard about it, I wasn't that surprised. But it seems like there is — I don't know if it's the curse of the Housewives [franchise] — but there's a lot of, there's at least 12 current divorces that have happened since women got on the show.

Jill continued to posit, “Is it that the women who seek out to do this show have something going on in their marriages and in their lives that they're seeking out this kind of fame and fortune to give them the freedom to leave?” Jill, who is happily married to husband Bobby Zarin, suggests that many women do the show to “escape.”

Jill added that the current separation between Adrienne and Paul wasn’t just written on the wall by their behavior on the show. The last time she saw them, she could sense something was amiss.

“Well, I saw them two weeks ago. They were in New York promoting a new line of skin care, and you know they looked ... they weren't talking to each other. I mean, you actually saw the symptoms of it a few weeks ago in New York,” she said.
