One of the highlights of this season of Real Housewives of Orange County was getting to meet the ever-upbeat Lydia McLaughlin. But how exactly does Lydia manage to stay so bubbly?
Lydia was asked that very question by a fan, and she provides a thorough response on her website.
"I wish there was just kind of a magical thing or formula, but I think for me, I love doing quiet times in the morning, and even on the days I don't feel like doing it, I can tell the days I did it and the days I didn't," Lydia reveals. "And it's just time for me just to journal or reflect and really just focus on what matters and what is of real substance versus my little petty ways that I'm focusing on."
Lydia also finds value in reading inspirational books. "[I] really recommend good books — anything by Beth Moore or Jen Hatmaker," Lydia says. "Especially for new moms, those are amazing books. And Jen Hatmaker has a couple that's just a couple pages in the morning — it takes like three minutes — so even if you have a two-year-old like me, you can kind of be reading it while you're helping him. So I recommend that."
"I also love listening to podcasts of Miles McPherson from San Diego and just different things that help me really focus on what matters because the day is so full of negativity," she adds.
