Did you ever think you’d see the day where Tamra Barney would have something nice to say about Brooks Ayers? Neither did we. The Real Housewives of Orange County star spent an entire season of the Bravo reality show at odds with bestie Vicki Gunvalson, due to her relationship with the controversial Mississippian. But times, they are a-changing...
Wetpaint Entertainment recently spoke with Tamra herself to find out where things stand between her and Vicki, and we got to talking about the man she famously branded an “opportunist.” But first, how’s that delicate Vicki friendship?
“Vicki and I are still going strong,” Tamra reveals. “We still have that crazy friendship where we’re fighting one day, and we’re friends the next. We’re more like sisters, we just bicker about things and then it’s like, ‘OK, where do you want to go to lunch?’”
As dysfunctional as that may seem, we have to admit we like these two better together than apart! Plus, everyone needs a sister-like relationship in their lives to keep them in check.
However, the one thing we could see breaking these two apart would be if Tamra was still butting heads with Vicki’s on again, off again man. But Tamra insists that those days are behind them.
“You’ll definitely see some communication between Brooks and I,” she says of RHOC Season 9. “Things are in a much better place. I think that maybe Brooks came onto the show kind of nervous… some people in front of the camera are not good. I think he kind of overdid things and tried to be somebody different. To me, it just looked like B.S., so I definitely called him out on that.”
Understatement of the century! Though if both parties can let go of some of the hurtful statements made on either end — as any adult should — then more power to them. At least Tamra’s putting her longtime pal’s interests first, as tough as it may have been to swallow.
“I want what’s best for Vicki, and if Brooks is best for Vicki — I don’t know if Vicki knows that — then I’m okay with it,” the Housewife explains. “He’s apologized for some of the things he’s said and done, and then we’ve moved on.”
So does that mean that the volatile couple is back on again?
“On and off, on and off — I just never know!” she admits laughing.
Real Housewives of Orange County airs Monday nights at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
