Jon Gosselin may have survived sextuplets, paraded his crumbling marriage in front of cameras for a massive audience to see, and found out what it’s like to have the whole world make no bones about their pure, unabashed hatred of him during his Ed Hardy phase, but it looks like he’s only now finding out the true meaning of humility.
The former reality star and father or octuplets revealed to ET that he’s now living far from the spotlight his former stardom once cast upon him, earning a modest wage waiting tables at the Black Dog restaurant in his native Pennsylvania. Jon, who’s bounced from IT work to construction to the service industry since he stopped being a full-time cast member on Jon and Kate Plus 8 in 2009, admitted that, despite his less-than-glamorous new lifestyle, he’s not at his lowest point.
“I’ve hit rock bottom, like, 20 times,” Jon joked. “And then I just bounce back and go somewhere else.”
Jon, who claimed that it’s been “nearly impossible” for him to find work after the show, has said in the past that one of the greatest struggles he’s come up against financially is the massive monthly child support payment he’s been doling out to ex-wife Kate, despite her allegedly greater means.
Despite his post-divorce downsizing to a cabin in rural Pennsylvania with no internet access or television, Jon said that he wouldn’t change a thing about his past.
“I don’t regret anything,” he said. “Because you learn from your mistakes.”
