While Mob Wives: New Blood’s Alicia DiMichele put on a brave face for the VH1 show’s premiere on Thursday, December 5, she was hit with some tough news just the next day: Her husband, Eddie “The Tall Guy” Garofalo, was sentenced to seven years in prison for extortion.

And though this is sure to be tough on Alicia, a new cast member this season, things could have turned out a lot worse. Initially, Eddie was also charged with embezzlement, racketeering, and murder conspiracy — a much-longer list of crimes that could have led to quite a lengthy prison stay for the father of three.

Hopefully, the news that Eddie has shed some of his charges means that Alicia will also see a brighter fate in the courts. The reality star is due in court next month to face her own charges for embezzlement, in connection with a business she ran alongside her hubby. Though we are used to these ladies being married to the mob, we’re still not ready to see one of wives themselves go to prison!

But Alicia is one tough cookie, and somehow she’s kept a good attitude through all of it.

“I am very nervous,” she said. “But I’m a very positive person and I’m just thinking completely positive and I don’t even let my mind go towards the negative side. I put everything in god’s hands and I have faith and I’m hoping that it’ll all work out for the best and that I’m not taken away from my children.”
