Usually, the day after the Biggest Loser finale is focused on celebrating the weight loss journeys of the 15 contestants — with all of America oo-ing and ah-ing over their before and after photos. But today’s buzz over last night’s Season 15 winner, Rachel Frederickson, has been decidedly more somber, as both the media and viewers question whether the 24-year-old went too far with her weight loss.

What most news outlets are using as exhibit A in the “concerning” matter is that even fitness coaches Jillian Michaels and Bob Harper seemed to be visibly shocked in the on-screen reveal, which showed Rachel down to a mere 105 pounds from her 260 starting weight. Now, both Jillian and Bob have responded to the public speculation over Rachel’s dramatic weight loss.

“Jillian and I want to take a moment to congratulate all of the BL contestants on their hard work,” Bob begins in a statement posted to Facebook. “We're not comfortable commenting on Rachel's journey because we weren't her trainers and weren't given an opportunity to work with her at any point. Any questions about the contestants on The Biggest Loser should be directed to the show's producers.”

It seems that the trainers and show are in damage control mode, plus, it’s always a sensitive situation when you’re dealing with someone’s personal health. And it’s likely that some of the negative public attention could be even worse for Rachel than any (completely speculated on) weight issues.

We will be interested to see how the show’s producers handle this moving forward, but we agree that it’s probably best to stay out of this for now. We wish Rachel and the rest of the Biggest Loser contestants a big congratulations for a hard-worked season.
