We’re guessing that when Rachel Frederickson learned she’d been crowned the Biggest Loser Season 15 on Tuesday night (February 4), she didn’t know she’d find herself at the center of a controversy the following day. But that’s just what happened yesterday, as both the media and fans vocally questioned whether the NBC reality competition had allowed their winner to go too far with her weight loss.

The 24-year-old voice-over artist lost a jaw-dropping 155 pounds during her time on the show, earning her the $250K grand prize and the title of “Biggest Loser.” However, her record-breaking weight loss also visibly shocked fitness coaches Jillian Michaels and Bob Harper, and sent viewers into a tizzy on social media, many wondering if she’d tipped into unhealthily thin territory.

Now 105 pounds (down from her 260-pound starting weight), Rachel is making the media rounds and sharing how she attained her newly-slight physique. In the midst of all of that, she took a moment to speak out on Twitter and thank her supporters — though she doesn’t directly address the negative media attention.

“I want to thank everyone for the amazing support,” Rachel wrote last night. “It’s been an incredible journey and I can’t wait to start the next chapter of my life.”

Coaches Jillian and Bob also released a statement yesterday, and were more clear about their feelings on the media attention, explaining that “we're not comfortable commenting on Rachel's journey because we weren't her trainers and weren't given an opportunity to work with her at any point.”

Speaking of Rachel’s trainer, Dolvett Quince did, indeed, respond to the buzz in his own words:

"Last night's Biggest Loser Finale has sparked a huge reaction and I do not want the day to end without addressing it. Biggest Loser is a journey which has its ups and downs.  Please try not to look at one slice of Rachel's journey and come to broad conclusions. Rachel's health is and always has been my main concern and her journey to good health has not yet ended!!"

We have to admit, we’re a little relieved that Dolvett and Rachel are remaining close and focusing on her health together. It’s impossible to know the state of someone’s health by just looking at them, and we hope the public learns to respect that.
