Just one week after it was announced that 19 Kids and Counting’s Jill Duggar had entered into a courtship (with the intent to marry), the Duggar family has made the official announcement: Jill is engaged!
The 22-year-old reality star will be tying the knot with accountant Derick Dillard, 25, whom she met through her father, Jim Bob. The couple first go to know one another through Skype, before finally meeting in person last fall.
"I am so happy," Jill told People this week. "Our story is so very unique. The first time we talked, he was in Japan, we met in Nepal, he spent time in India and Israel and then came back to Arkansas where he met my family. We have a very international story even though we live so close."
The best part about making their engagement official? Jill and Derick are now able to hold hands, which is a form of physical contact they mutually agreed to postpone until they became engaged. However, the young couple still won’t share their first kiss until the actual wedding day.
"I feel like I'm dreaming," Derick shared. "It was great to grab her hand for the first time."
And Jill will have one person in particular to relate with on her journey to the aisle: little sister Jessa, 21, who is currently in a courtship with 18-year-old boyfriend Ben Seewald. Though Jessa may still be only in the courtship stage, it’s only a matter of time until she too makes the engagement official!
For now, no official wedding date has been announced for Jill and Derick, but the mag shares that it will happen within the next few months!
Congratulations to the happy couple!
