Friends, today we learned a new phrase and it makes us feel kind of weird: to catch a baby. Not in a baseball mitt and not like a cold, but in terms of getting pregnant, knocked up, receive a visit from the stork, etcetera, etcetera. Whom should we thank for this sparkling addition to our lexicon? That’d be Michelle Duggar, star of TLC’s 19 Kids and Counting.
By this point, we figure everyone and their OB/GYN knows who Michelle is, but if you somehow missed that part of sex ed, the Arkansas star is the mother of 19 kids ranging in ages from 26 to 4. And we thought the Kardashian-Jenner family was big.
The kids — whose names all start with the letter “J” because “K” was already taken by the aforementioned family — have kept Mom and Pop busy since 1988, but the pair have no plans to slow down. In fact, Michelle’s wondering if she and husband Jim Bob might be able to get an even 2-0 out of the ol' babymaker yet.
Just a couple of issues with this plan, though. Namely, Michelle’s age. She’ll turn 48 this September and has already had a couple scary pregnancy experiences in recent years. Michelle has suffered a miscarriage, and a life-threatening bout of preeclampsia, which led to Duggar No. 19’s arrival at just 25 weeks old. The premature birth led to a long stay in the hospital for both mom and baby.
But after more than 20 years of using no kind of contraceptive, Michelle’s got no plans to change her and Jim Bob’s lifestyle this late in the game. Watch her real-talk consultation with a doctor in the video above including that handy new expression we mentioned earlier.
