Most first kisses involve some anxiety, but this first kiss takes the cake — the wedding cake, that is. Indeed, 19 Kids & Counting star Jill Duggar got married over the weekend, and the couple finally had their first kiss at their wedding ceremony!
People reports that Jill, 23, married Derick Dillard on June 21 at Cross Church in her hometown of Springdale, Arkansas. The wedding was attended by a whopping total of more than 1,000 friends and family. Yowza!
Five of Jill's sisters were bridesmaids, and two of her brothers were groomsmen. Jill is the second daughter of Jim Bob, 48, and Michelle, 47, who stars with her family on TLC reality show 19 Kids & Counting.
The wedding was a time of mixed emotions for father-of-the-bride Jim Bob. "It really hit me that Jill was leaving as she was packing her bag the other night," he said. "We all realized she was really leaving. We are so glad that Derick is an answer to her prayers. It's an emotional time, but a joyful time."
Jill and Derick officially announced their engagement in April, at which point they held hands for the very first time. Yes, you read that correctly. Jill's sister, 20-year-old Jessa, is currently in a courtship with Ben Seewald, 19, and the couple is also choosing to save hand-holding for their engagement and their first kiss for the wedding day. But who doesn't save it until then, right?
Congrats to the happy couple! We hope they have a wild night of holding hands... and, uh, other stuff, too.
Offer your happy wishes to Jill and Derick!
