Lea Michele Recalls How Kristin Chenoweth Helped Her After Cory Monteith’s Death (VIDEO)

Glee may be in the midst of its longest hiatus ever, but the show’s stars (and guest stars) are still keeping busy until shooting on the sixth and final season starts later this month. Case in point: Kristin Chenoweth (April Rhodes) invited Lea Michele (Rachel) to sing a duet of “For Good” with her at the 2014 Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame and Opening Night Concert in Los Angeles on June 21. Kristin was one of the night’s inductees, and we love that she chose to have Lea by her side!

As can be expected, the duet — which you can watch below — was flawless, but it’s what Lea said before the ladies started singing that really warmed our hearts. “We had the pleasure of working on Glee together. I can say she is my friend, which is the biggest pleasure of all,” Lea began. “Last summer, I got an email from Kristin and she said that music will heal everything. At the time, I didn’t quite get how that could be possible, but it really did. A year later, to be here on this stage singing with her, it’s such a blessing and an honor.”

Although Lea didn’t mention Cory Monteith’s (Finn) death directly, it’s clear that’s what she was referring to. Her kind words even moved Kristin to tears just before the song was set to begin and she can be heard playful telling the Broadway vet to “get it together because we gotta sing.”

It’s hard to believe that it’s been nearly a year since Cory passed away, and like Lea alluded to it was incredibly tough but she’s also managed to heal and accomplish so much with music at the core.

Watch Lea’s little speech to Kristin and their killer duet below and tell us what you think in the comments!
