Wherein Spencer Tracks Down Tippi's Favorite Phone Number
That Spencer-Emily fight was more than a little stressful, as Spencer could have probably shown a bit more empathy. But Spencer otherwise had a great week, as she realized that Cicero College was in York County and then managed to miraculously fall into the room with the phone number that Tippi the bird had memorized. Okay, sure. But the one thing we're quite confident about: CeCe has definitely spent some time in that room, right?!
Wherein Hanna Learns That Orange Jumpsuits Are So Not in This Season
We were worried about Hanna's mom landing in the clink, since Mrs. Hastings has some distressing news for her. But when Hanna instead got busted for burying her mom's gun, we practically passed out. (Someone get us a sip of water!) So will the police realize whose gun that is? If nothing else, at least we can be sure Hanna will have the most chicly-decorated cell in the entire prison.
We love how sweet Emily's dad is this week — as it's nice that at least a few of the parents are impressing us nowadays, to make up for the ones who aren't (*cough* Ms. Marin *cough*). It's a bit of a bummer to think that Emily is ruling out Stanford and instead settling for a sorority scholarship at Cicero College, even though her trip to Cicero this week did provide valuable clues. And are we the only ones who finds Brendon the spin doctor to be a bit sketchy?
Wherein Aria Gives Mike a Push in the Right Direction
Aria's storyline felt a tad unnecessary this week — or maybe we're just not used to an episode when Aria isn't completely hung up on one of her many guys. Luckily, we do get reunited with a cute guy through Aria in the form of the long-absent Mike Montgomery, who is angstier — and dreamier! — than ever. Let your mom get to Vienna and far away from more potential bee attacks, Mike.
In fact, Aria's storyline might have been completely forgettable if not for that precious Byron-Ella scene as he encourages her to head to Vienna. It's nice to see Byron show a sensitive side, after his overly creepy arc last season. Elron forever!
— The episode was loaded with surprises, as we finally got a follow-up on the semi-ridiculous "talking bird" plot. Now that Spencer has found the "panic room" at the Cicero College sorority house with the phone number Ali was calling, we're thinking CeCe must be connected to this number somehow. After all, CeCe was in a sorority and got kicked out of her first college, which just may have been Cicero. Plus, we can totally see CeCe rocking that pink phone.
— The ending was beyond depressing, with Hanna hauled away in cuffs for burying her mom's gun in the woods outside the sorority house. Let's ignore the fact that Hanna really should have known better than to bury that gun — c'mon Han, "A" finds everything! — and focus on what will happen to Hanna in the Gray Bar Hotel. Our guess? Ms. Marin will save her by owning up to the gun being hers. But what did Ashley actually use that gun for?
— What was the seemingly ominous information that Veronica Hastings had for Hanna's mom? Hanna's mom has done plenty of questionable things, so the possibilities of what Veronica found are practically endless.
— Who the heck is this Carla Grunwald — a.k.a. the infamously bitchy sorority house mother — and what role will she play in the story? Does that mask on the wall of hers have something to do with Hector, the mask-maker we met last week? A note to Carla: We have enough creepy people on this show as it is, so you're not wanted.
— In the final scene, we see "A" drinking a spot of tea, and we all know that the Brits love their tea. So does this mean Wren is "A"? Or maybe "A" just wanted a chance to drink honey, to remind us about those bees attacking Ella. And here we thought everyone on this show was only addicted to coffee.
Other Things That Need To Be Discussed:
— Perhaps our favorite line of the night was Mike Montgomery teasing Aria about getting "frisky with Fitz." It's good to have you back, Mike!
