Red Lights, Easy Money, Ice Age: Continental Drift: Wetpaint Entertainment’s Sexy-Not Sexy Weekend Movie Guide, 7/13

It’s July, it’s hot out, and a movie theater is the coolest place around. So why not chill out and soak in the latest from Hollywood? Here's the scoop on three (unlucky?) flicks showing this Friday, July 13.

Red Lights

When renowned blind psychic Simon Silver (Robert De Niro) resurfaces years after his toughest critic mysteriously passed away, typically fearless paranormal activity debunker Margaret Matheson (Sigourney Weaver) urges her assistant, Tom Buckley (Cillian Murphy), to back off the man. But Tom persists, with help from his star student (Elizabeth Olsen), in this thriller from Buried director Rodrigo Cortés.
Sexy: Cillian Murphy’s piercing blue eyes
Not sexy: Paranormal activity
Verdict: So far the reviews are mixed, but the cast is top-notch. If you’re a fan of taut psychological thrillers, why not give this one a shot?

Easy Money

NOTE: Easy Money (Snabba Cash) first came out to rave reviews in Sweden in 2010. It is now getting a limited release in the United States.

In this Swedish crime drama based on the novel Snabba Cash by Jens Lapidus, lower-class business student JW (Joel Kinnaman) falls in love with a sexy heiress while living a double life among Stockholm’s wealthy elite. Things take a turn for the scary and violent when JW gets involved in organized crime to keep up his moneyed façade.
Sexy: The Killing’s Joel Kinnaman in a tailored suit and without the creepy facial hair
Not sexy: Greed
Verdict: Sex, money, and a lot of dark, tense scenes? The Swedes flocked to this one when it came out back in 2010, so it’s gotta be good.

Ice Age: Continental Drift

Still chasing that elusive acorn, Scrat (Chris Wedge) sets off a continental cataclysm that triggers the greatest adventure of all for Manny the mammoth (Ray Romano), Diego the Smilodon (Denis Leary), and Sid the ground sloth (John Leguizamo).
Sexy: Nothing... unless you have a weird thing for animated “saber-toothed” squirrels
Not sexy: Everything in this movie
Verdict: This one’s geared toward a younger crowd, so unless you have a kiddo of your own, we’d recommend skipping this latest installment of the Ice Age franchise.
