Amber Riley Releases New Music: Listen to “Leave The Light On”
Is there anything Amber Riley (Mercedes) can't do? The Glee star recently proved her dancing mettle as the winner of Dancing With the Stars Season 17 last fall. Now, in addition to appearing in a number of Glee episodes in the near future and selling out of the clothes from her new boutique, she has released a new solo song — which she co-wrote! We suddenly feel like serious underachievers.
On February 13, Amber released her cover of the song, "Leave a Light On." The song was originally recorded by British-Irish girl group The Saturdays and can be found on their fourth studio album, which was released in October 2013. And what's even cooler is that Amber is a credited songwriter on the tune!
"This song was co-written by myself, Jordan Omley of The JAM, and Lisa Scinta," Mercedes writes about her cover of the song on SoundCloud. "I thought it would be cool to release my version of this song because it was my first placement as a songwriter. Enjoy!"
As you can probably guess, Amber's voice sounds stellar on the song, which is a dance-y, soul-tinged tune that gives Beyonce a run for her money. Now, we need Amber to release her first full-length album already! She has reportedly been working on the album for a quite a while, but there's no word on a release date. At least we have "Leave a Light On" to tide us over!
