The lights haven’t dimmed on Nashville yet, y’all!
ABC has ordered another 22-episode run of the Music City drama starring Connie Britton (Rayna Jaymes) and Hayden Panettiere (Juliette Barnes), which is amazing news considering many were expecting the show to return for an abbreviated run next year due to high production costs.
“Congratz and welcome back for Season 3 to @Nashville_ABC @conniebritton @CharlesEsten @CallieKhouri, the whole Nashville team and loyal fans,” ABC’s Ben Sherwood tweeted late Friday night. This prompted an adorable response from Charles Esten (Deacon Claybourne), who wrote back, “@BenSherwoodABC @Nashville_ABC @conniebritton @CallieKhouri Thank you Ben, from the bottom of Deacon's heart. Here's to the best season yet!”
Season 2 of the country music series was a wild ride, giving us two tragic deaths — Lamar Wyatt (Powers Boothe) and Peggy Kenter (Kimberly Williams-Paisley) — and chronicled Rayna’s big decision to start her own label. It also saw many relationships take off, with Juliette and Avery Barkley (Jonathan Jackson) finally discovering that they were a good pair. Sweet crooner Scarlett O’Connor (Clare Bowen) saw her career rise and fall, putting her future in jeopardy.
The Season 2 finale, airing May 14, should give fans plenty to look forward to for Season 3, as it’s full of amazing cliffhangers and leaves us with unanswered questions we’ll be itching to know the answer to.
