The second season of Revenge admittedly had a front row seat on the struggle bus, but per TVLine, one of last season’s most convoluted storylines will be a thing of the past once Season 3 premieres on September 29 — and we couldn't be happier.

The site’s Michael Ausiello notes that The Initiative — or what he rightfully refers to as “the symbol for everything that went wrong with Season 2” — will only be spoken about once in the Season 3 premiere and then never mentioned again.

Revengers rejoice!

The Initiative storyline took away from Emily Thorne’s powerful quest to avenge her father’s death, and proved to be one of the most confusing and least interesting sub-plots of the show’s once-promising sophomore season. We would attempt to explain the sort-of terrorist organization’s role for those who may need a refresher, but trust us when we say it isn’t even worthy of an explanation.

As for the now defunct group’s sole mention in Season 3, new showrunner Sunil Nayar notes,

“Conrad sort of said in the season finale that it never really existed in the first place, so we’re going to embrace that reality and go forward that way.”

The Initiative aside, Nayar also confirmed that the Season 3 premiere will include future scenes of Emily’s wedding day, though the identity of her groom remains a mystery.“You’re going to see something spectacular happen,” he teases, “and we’re going to [build toward] that in the first half of the season.”
