We were pretty shocked earlier this summer when ABC announced that Ashley Madekwe’s (Ashley Davenport) contract wasn’t renewed for Revenge Season 3. Yes, the sophomore season of the shoreside drama was plagued with boring and confusing storylines, but we were actually glad that Ash was given more to work with in Season 2, and became more than just Victoria Grayson’s polished British assistant.

Between her ill-fated relationship with Daniel Grayson, a secret stripper past, and her turn at blackmailing Grayson patriarch, Conrad, things were just starting to get interesting for Ashley.

Once news of her unexpected departure was announced, Ashley Madekwe took it stride...sort of. While Nick Wechsler (Jack Porter) told Wetpaint Entertainment that Ash should just give ABC the bird and be done with it, she instead asked for her character “die in a blaze of glory.”

However, showrunner Sunil Nayar tells TVLine that Ash — who will depart in the show’s Sept. 29 premiere — won’t get her way. “We’re not killing her,” he reveals. “We’d never do that! She’s too great a character.”

And while it may seem especially mean that the new show boss is ignoring the actress’ wishes, the fact that her character will exit the series with a pulse leaves the door open for a possible return somewhere down the line. “As sad as we are to bid her farewell at the moment, you’ll see that the way we resolve her storyline now gives her an opportunity to come back with her own revenge agenda,” he dished.

Nothing has been confirmed yet, but that sure sounds like the Hamptons hasn’t heard the last of Ashley Davenport.

Do you think we can expect a forthcoming return from Ash, or is Sunil just playing with us? Vote below!
