If there’s one thing you can count on when it comes to Game of Thrones, it’s that no character is safe from the axe (or the vial of poison, as it were). The most recent figure in Westeros to illustrate that point was King Joffrey (Jack Gleeson), who met his demise at his own wedding feast in Season 4, Episode 2. However, Joff’s offing was far from the most shocking death in Game of Thrones history — and it seems our friends on Viggle LIVE! agree.

During last night’s episode, we polled viewers on which death most threw them for a loop, and a whopping 86 percent said it’s still Ned Stark’s beheading in Season 1. A paltry 12 percent thought Viserys Targaryen’s death by molten gold was the most brutal, and only 2 percent thought the stabbing of a pregnant Talisa Stark had the most shock value.

We see what they mean with Ned’s demise. Sure, if you read the books you saw it coming a mile away, but with a big name actor like Sean Bean playing what appeared to be the show’s starring role, we can definitely see why so many fans are still picking their jaws up off the floor over it.

We’re curious, though, if the results would have been different had we thrown in a few more departed characters. Khal Drogo perhaps? Robb or Catelyn Stark, maybe? Or perhaps the chilling murder of Ros? We have a feeling that might have moved the needle some, but not enough to depose the late King of the North from the top of the list.

Watching Game of Thrones is its own reward (even when at its most brutal), but you can make it even more rewarding with Viggle. Get the app, check in to Viggle LIVE! and start earning points toward awesome stuff, just for watching TV!
