If you heard an explosion last night, it wasn’t Victoria Grayson’s plane — it was our minds being blown when ABC released the Revenge Season 2, Episode 1 photos.
But once we started to calm down, it was pretty clear that these photos gave us plenty of spoilerific clues for the second season of our favorite show. Here’s what we deduced:
1. Ashley and Daniel Stay Together
Ever since we found out that Ashley Davenport and Daniel Grayson did, in fact, hookup, we’ve been wondering if the couple will last. This photo shows the dastardly couple looking pretty uncomfortable whilst talking with one Ms. Emily Thorne aboard a large yacht.
And since this might be the “big event” teased by show creator Mike Kelley, then it’s a flash forward at least several weeks. And after several weeks of dating Daniel Grayson, Ash is probably waiting for one of his live orchestra proposals any day now.
2. The Boat They’re on Is Not The Amanda
Originally, some other news agencies (we’re not naming any names, but you know who you are) reported that the “big event” was a party aboard Jack Porter’s boat, The Amanda. Now, we’re not sure if these writers have actually seen The Amanda, but there’s no way a party of more than five people could fit on there. And if these photos are indeed from the big event, it looks like the party is on the same (or a similar) yacht to the one used in last season’s infamous Memorial Day bash in which Victoria Grayson ousted Lydia Davis.
3. Emily Battles Love Interest, Aiden, in Revenge School
In this season’s first official promo, we see Emily Thorne battling someone on the beach. We originally thought it was a new villain, but now we know that it’s Emily’s new love interest, Aiden Mathias.
Played by British actor Barry Sloane, Aiden is a part of Satoshi Takeda’s “revenge school,” and from the looks of things, this battle is practice for Emily’s actual enemies. In the promo she says to Aiden, “Dead or alive, I’m going to find out what happened.”
We gather that Aiden was questioning Emily’s revengenda, and if history’s taught us anything, it’s that no one should do that.
It’s also clear that the two men watching Emily struggle as she’s tied to a wooden post are Takeda and Aiden. They don’t exactly seem like enemies so we can assume that it’s a test. And since Mike Kelley said that Takeda is responsible for Em’s watery predicament, we have a feeling we’re right.
4. New Takeda Looks Nothing Like Old Takeda
We were sad to hear that actor Hiroyuki Sanada (the original Satoshi Takeda) wouldn’t be returning for Season 2 due to scheduling conflicts. As a replacement, actor Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa has stepped in to play the martial arts master.
And though producer Melissa Loy said, “We didn’t want to try to trick our audience,” we’re not sure how they’re going to explain this drastic difference come Season 2.
5. Emily Thorne Knows How to Work Red
Get it girl!
After last season’s sexy one-shoulder dress at the Fire and Ice engagement party, Emily Thorne stepped up her game even more and wowed us in this gorgeous red dress. Guess those martial arts workouts are paying off because Em’s bod is bangin’!
