Are Revenge and Alias Basically the Same Show?

The stunning season finale of Revenge brought us so many twists, so many turns, so many new revelations that they left our heads spinning. 

Perhaps the biggest twist of all was Emily Thorne learning her mother, long presumed dead, is actually still alive and somehow involved in the conspiracy that ended up taking down her father. 

The development made us think of Alias, another show with a "your mother is actually alive and maybe kinda sorta evil" revelation. And Emily's knockdown, dragout with the White-Haired Man was eerily reminiscent of Sydney Bristow kicking butt. 

So are Revenge and Alias basically the same show? Let us count the ways. 

Heroine

Revenge: Emily Thorne, a butt-kicking, super smart babe who infiltrates Hamptons high society to avenge her father's death. The occasional disguise helps with her takedowns.

Alias: Sydney Bristow, a butt-kciking, super smart babe who infiltrates her own black ops organization as a double agent to avenge her fiance's death. Many disguises help with her takedowns.

Revenge: Americon, a shadowy group who orchestrated her father's death and other nefarious plots

Alias: SD-6, a shadowy group who orchestrated her fiance's death and other nefarious plots

Revenge: David Clarke, misunderstood by the world; unknown mother, presumed dead, but still alive

Alias: Jack Bristow, misunderstood by Sydney; mother Irina Derevko, presumed dead, but still alive

Nemesis

Revenge: Cold-hearted, manipulative Victoria Grayson, who almost became Emily's mother-in-law

Alias: Cold, calculating Arvin Sloane, who was at one time Sydney's second father

Revenge: Emily is caught between her childhood sweetheart, Jack Porter, and a man who's part of the life she's chosen, Daniel Grayson
