Revenge Actor Henry Czerny Calls the Show a "Soap Opera": Do You Agree?
Days of Our Lives, The Young and the Restless, and Revenge?
Actor Henry Czerny, who plays Victoria Grayson's manipulative husband Conrad, is notorious for spilling secrets (like confirming Lydia Davis's death). But during an interview with E! News this summer, he made some questionable comments about our favorite show.
"It's a soap opera,” Henry said. “Guaranteed, someone will be in a hospital. Guaranteed, someone will be marrying somebody. Guaranteed, someone will be hating somebody. Somebody will be getting divorced. Someone will be going to bed with the wrong person."
It’s not like he told us anything we didn’t already know (this time), but it’s his first comment that really gets to us.
With ingenious writing, phenomenal acting, and situationally-appropriate lighting, Revenge is far from a soap opera in our eyes. The show digs deep to a level of the basic human thirst for vengeance and shows the negative ramifications behind each dark decision.
Sure, there’s the token psychopath wielding a gun (cough, Tyler, cough), but there’s also calculated decisions and honorable choices (i.e. Ems not killing the White-Haired Man).
Yes, the situations can be a bit extreme, but would you call Revenge a soap opera? Tell us below!
