Every week on Revenge we look forward to the deep, often philosophical “Emily Thorne-isms” that start off each episode. They don’t reveal any major plot points, but they do give focus and direction.

Show creator Mike Kelley already told us that Season 2 centers around fate vs. free will. Emily worries that her mother’s psychological issues may end up driving her to the deep end (potentially when tied to a wooden post).

So as the second season opens, and we gasp in horror as an event we simply can’t spoil takes place, the collected voice of Emily Thorne rings out saying,

“To believe that a life is meant for a single purpose, one must also believe in a common fate. Father to daughter, brother to sister, mother to child. Blood ties can be as unyielding as they are eternal. But it is our bonds of choice that truly light the road we travel. Love versus hatred. Loyalty against betrayal. A person’s true destiny can only be revealed at the end of his journey, and the story I have to tell is far from over.”

We hope so, because we’re more than excited for this season to unfold after hearing that quote! Wetpaint Entertainment snagged a sneak peek at Episode 1’s first 17 minutes, and all we can say is, you won’t be sorry.

For those Revengers out their currently sticking pins in our voodoo dolls, you only have nine days left! And if the first 17 minutes were that good, we can only imagine how gripping the next 25-ish will be!

What do you think of Emily’s opening quote? Weigh in below!
