Chances are you’re planning to overload on turkey goodness tomorrow, and we totally support that. But if you want to keep in top Revenge shape, you’re going to have to learn from the best.
And no, we’re not talking about Japanese sensei extraordinaire, Satoshi Takeda.
Actress Emily VanCamp has a killer bod, and that’s not all thanks to Emily Thorne’s martial arts training.
So how does Ms. VanCamp stay in shape? Her personal trainer, Lalo Fuentes dished Em’s secrets to Shape Magazine in a recent Q&A.
“My technique that I use with all of my clients is the ‘freeze technique,’” he revealed. “It’s basically about stopping on each point of the move for a quick second, which permits your brain to connect with the muscles you want to work. For example, if you are doing a squat, you want to stop on the lower part of the move, focus on the muscle you want to emphasize (in this case your glutes), and stand up or finish the move, squeezing your muscles from there.”
And where does Emily train (apart from the Japanese dojo)?
“Her workouts are always changing, but they tend to be half on land and half in water,” he continued. “We’ll focus on things such as Pilates, planks, pushups, or side extensions — just basically a lot of body movements using her bodyweight. But we won’t do any squats or lunges.”
Lalo went on to reveal that Emily typically trains three to four days a week for 60 to 75 minutes.
