"A" is back with a vengeance on Pretty Little Liars Season 4, Episode 2 ("Turn of the Shoe") — and Mona was her first target of the season. How does it feel to be on the other side, Mona? But just because Mona was on "A's" hit list, doesn't mean "A" forgot about the other Liars. In fact, poor Emily ends up on stretcher after a terrifying run-in with "A" throws her off her game. And Spencer? Well, our favorite brainiac gets some unsettling news of her own.

After Mona's near deadly run-in with "A," Aria decides it's time for self defense classes. We think she's three years too late; if we were in her postion, we would already be black belts. All joking aside, Aria's marital arts instructor Jake (Ryan Guzman) is a total hottie. So it's no surprise when she spontaneously kisses him! She says it's because he smelled like cinnamon, but we all know she has a lot of pent-up sexual frustration toward Ezra. (Side note: What's with Aria falling in love with her instructors?) Totally embarrassed by her actions, she runs out on Jake, but later that night, he makes a house call, and Aria takes him up on his offer to have coffee at The Brew. Why do we have a feeling she's going to see Ezra there? Awk-ward.
Meanwhile, Spencer is dealing with her own relationship issues when she suspects Toby of hiding things from her. It turns out she was right, he was hiding things from her — like the fact he returned the mobile Lair back to "A" in exchange for his mother's Radley transcripts. Spencer really couldn't be mad at him after that confession. Toby thinks his mom didn't commit suicide, which is a little too deep for Spencer to deal with right now, considering that she's still reeling from the information that she got rejected from University of Pennsylvania. But don't worry — Ezra tells Spencer that he's going to help her with her next admissions essay. It seems Spencer was a little too honest with her first one. Spencer is so over lying; can't she be honest for once?!
Emily is also through with the lying game. She just wants to be happy and live the perfect college life with Paige at Stanford, but "A" isn't one for happy endings. As a result of Mona's nasty run-in with "A," Emily hurt her shoulder when she fell to the ground to dodge the car the was speeding toward her. Unfortunately, this totally threw Emily off her A game for an important meet. Emily popped a few pain pills to help ease the pain, but it didn't help her swimming but she accidentally smacked her head against the wall. (That must have bump.) Emily survived, but it wasn't the best way to impress the Stanford coaches.
As for Hanna, well, she's getting more suspicious of her mom. Did Ashley Marin have something to do with Wilden's death? Sure, she says she didn't kill him, but her muddy heels say otherwise. Not to mention, at the end of the episode, she was totally disposing them! She knows the cops are onto to her — but did she do it?
If only her mother was Hanna's only worry. Meet Tippi, the DiLaurentis's pet parrot. When Mrs. DiLaurentis sees Hanna, she gives her Tippi, who conveniently spent the summer with Ali — just weeks before Ali's murder. (Not that Hanna believes Ali is actually dead.) Mrs. DiLaurentis tells Hanna to be careful what she says around Tippi because "you never know what could come back to haunt you." Sounds pretty ominous, right? Well, thanks to Spencer's brilliance, it turns out the song Tippi keeps singing is actually a phone number. Who was Ali calling that summer? And does that person hold the key to solving Ali's murder?
