Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with Kyle Richards just in time for the Season 4 premiere of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills — which premieres tonight, November 4, at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.
Kyle, who has been on the series since it premiered back in 2010, has experienced her fair share of ups and downs on the hit Bravo series, and with the drama about to hit the fan again, she’s dishing out scoop about her personal life and the new season.
Not only has her friendship with former bestie Lisa Vanderpump gone downhill, but she’s also been met by a new force in the RHoBH universe — newcomer Carlton Gebbia. While Kyle and other newcomer Joyce Giraud have hit it off right away, the dynamic between all the ladies has been turned topsy-turvy this year.
Check out our interview with Kyle and then hit the comments to let us know if you’ll be tuning in tonight for the Season 4 premiere!
Wetpaint Entertainment: How was Halloween for the family and how are you already gearing up for the holiday season?
Kyle Richards: Halloween was great, my oldest was born on Halloween and she turned 25 this year, so it was a lot of different parties and then on actual Halloween, trick-or-treating with the younger ones.
Thanksgiving is my favorite time of the year, so as soon as Halloween is over, the decorations come down and we start putting up the Thanksgiving and Christmas stuff, minus any red. We celebrate Hanukkah and Christmas, so I put up a tree with white lights. When I get back to L.A., I’m going to start putting up some Hanukkah stuff.
How’s everything going at your store? Any hopes of expanding to another location?
The store is doing great. It’s a lot of fun. My daughters love it. For them, not only can they steal from my closet, but they can go to the store. It’s like Disneyland for them. They don’t get that we actually have to pay for those things.
I’m asked about carrying men’s clothing a lot. I’m asked about opening up stores in New York or Las Vegas — you never know. But it’s a lot because I have so much going on in my life, with my children, husband, the show. I just announced my line with HSN which will be debuting in February 2014, so there’s a lot on my plate. For now, I’m good with the one store in Beverly Hills.
Were you shocked to hear the recent reports of Camille Grammer’s domestic assault?
We’ve spoken and I was very surprised to hear that. She’s had a rough time lately between her cancer diagnosis and now this. I really felt bad for her.
What about Joyce Giraud make you guys click so well? Likewise, what drove you and Carlton Gebbia apart? What has that dynamic been like?
When they first came in, I was excited to have the new girls and was very open-minded and wanted to get to know them and liked them both initially. But it seemed right away that Carlton didn’t want to like me, so she didn’t even get to know me. She made up her mind. We have our ups and downs and you’ll see how that plays out, but Joyce and I just got along from the beginning.
Portia’s becoming a little star on your Instagram account — do you think she’ll grow up to be an actress?
I don’t know, but none of my kids have ever had the acting bug, and I’ve been happy about that. Portia does talk about that a little more and she has expressed some interest in that, so we shall see. She definitely has it in her — whether or not I’ll help and encourage that or not, we will determine later. I just don’t know if I want that in her life.
Do you think you and Lisa’s friendship can ever heal enough to be like it used to be?
I’m not really sure, to be honest. I tried for a while to fix things with Lisa and she made it difficult and wasn’t open-minded to that. And now I’m the one that feels hurt by her. I always want to fix things, I don’t like having negativity between my friends, but a lot of damage has been done and we have a lot of things to work out before we can be like we were. I don’t know if it will ever be like we were, but we have a lot of work to do.
Which housewife surprised you the most this season — in a good or bad way?
I think I was very surprised by Carlton and taken aback by some of the things that she said and did. And some of the women too, at times I was really surprised by some of the women’s behavior. They could be mean, and then other times, people that I wouldn’t expect to be nice would surprise me. The dynamic really changes a lot this season. There’s a big shift in alliances.
It definitely looks like you and Brandi Glanville are getting pretty close…
We’re definitely in a much better place than we were. It couldn’t get much worse than that.
What should viewers be keeping an eye out for this season? Any teaser you can give?
This season really is, I mean, the first word that comes to mind is crazy. It’s a wild and crazy season. All of us are living busy, crazy lives, but what’s going on in each of our lives and between us leads to a very rocky season — to say the least.
Season 4 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills premieres tonight, November 4, at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.
