RHOC’s Meghan King Edmonds on Shannon Beador’s Weight: “I Haven’t Been There”

Meghan King Edmonds knows she could be a better friend to pal Shannon Beador as she embarks on her weight loss journey.

The Real Housewives of Orange County costars have been friendly, but the 32-year-old knows Shannon needs support as she works to lose 40 pounds.

Ahead of the Season 12 premiere last month, the 53-year-old revealed she gained a lot of weight following last season.

“So let’s just get to it. Yes, I have gained weight. A lot of weight. About 40 pounds to be exact,” she wrote on Instagram.

“I have not had plastic surgery or fillers, it’s just plain and simple weight gain. There are multiple factors that have contributed to my size and it will be addressed this season on the show.”

Now Meghan, who had daughter Aspen in November, wishes she had more time to dedicate towards Shannon.

“I haven’t been there for Shannon like I should have been,” she told People.

“I feel like I’ve been so consumed with the baby that it’s really hard for me to check up with my friends like I feel like I should.”

She continued, “And yeah I check in with Shannon, but I haven’t been like, ‘How are you doing with your weight?’ Yeah, I kind of suck as a friend, I guess.”

During the season premiere, Shannon blamed her weight gain on Vicki Gunvalson, who accused Shannon’s husband, David Beador, of abuse last year.

“That stress caused me to eat more, caused me to drink more, and that’s a huge part of why I gained my weight,” she said.

“My weight gain has affected me and how I feel about myself. I’m embarrassed about my body.”

However, Shannon clarified her statements last week, revealing she doesn’t blame Vicki for the weight.

“@Andy I never blamed Vicki for my weight gain. Discussed it for the millionth time last week. Only blame myself. Enough,” she tweeted.

The mother of three is not afraid to show her struggles on television, especially since she knows it’s an issue that affects so many people.

"Gaining weight and trying to take it off is a struggle that most women will face at some point in their lives,” she said on Instagram.

“I am hopeful that my fans and viewers of the show will be supportive of my journey."
