Why Is Taylor Swift Being Bashed in a Connecticut Newspaper?

Heard about Taylor Swift’s recent venture into landscape architecture? It’s been causing quite the stir after sparking a heated article in the newspaper of a New England village near T.Swift’s beach house.

Here’s the situation: Taylor decided to rearrange the shoreline out in front of her place in Watch Hill, a small community that’s part of the New England town of Westerly. Moving some of the coastline’s huge rocks required heavy-duty construction equipment, which caught the eye and raised the ire of a columnist for local paper The Day.

Published on December 29, the column by an irritated David Collins called out Taylor and her “fleet of big earth movers.” He questions if the changes will negatively alter the shore’s surfing conditions and repeatedly mentions his “surprise” at all things TayTay.

Just one thing, though. Taylor’s totally squared away legally according to Rhode Island officials. In a follow-up article published December 31, David concedes that okay, maybe Taylor can do what she wants on her private property but that doesn’t make the people over at the Rhode Island Coastal Resources Management Council any less of “pussycats.”

At least in the new column, David abstains from quoting any more Taylor song lyrics like he did in the December 29 editorial. In that piece he mused, “Who knows if Taylor Swift is contemplating a song about her new coastline.”

Unlikely, Mr. Collins, but we wouldn’t be surprised if she is writing a song about you. Girl does like her revenge anthems.
