RHONY: Who’s Getting a Raise, Who’s Getting Recast?
UPDATE: It looks like the whole gang has signed back on for season six. They've taken small pay raises, rather than the large ones they were originally hoping for, in favor of keeping their jobs. The network will reportedly be covering additional hair and makeup for the castmembers.
Original story from May 11:
Just like its cast members, Bravo’s Real Housewives of New York loves keeping things fresh with regular tune-ups.
The reality hit, which has been a Bravo staple since 2008, has parted ways with five cast members so far and it looks like more cuts may be in store.
According to Deadline, the show’s current cast has asked to have the weekend to think about whether or not they’ll re-sign their contracts for another season. The show’s stars – vets Ramona Singer, LuAnn de Lesseps, and Sonja Morgan, as well as newbies Aviva Drescher, Carole Radziwill, and Heather Thomson — reportedly want some guaranteed pay raises before they put pen to paper.
On Friday, Carole confirmed her indecision on Twitter, writing, “I still haven't decided. Payscale is ridix + it irks me to be given ultimatums.”
Although Bravo has allegedly threatened to recast the show if the contracts don’t get signed ASAP, with ratings plummeting after Bethenny Frankel’s departure, the network may be more wary of another overhaul than they’re letting on.
However, if they’re tightening their purse strings, we’re sure they could find women willing to drink Pinot Grigio and scream for far less than $500,000 a season.
