1. He Graduated From Stanford University With a 3.9 GPA. While Richard is an amazing cornerback and we're glad to have him in the NFL, if his football dreams hadn't come true, he'd still be doing great things. Dude attended Stanford University — and rather than focus on just football, he busted his ass and got a 3.9 GPA while still shining on the field! What's his degree in? What else: communications.
"I know the jock stereotype—cool guy, walking around with your friends, not caring about school, not caring about anything," he told Sports Illustrated in a July 2013 profile. "I hate that stereotype. I want to destroy it. I want to kill it."
5. He Grew Up Idolizing Muhammad Ali. Here's something from the department of not at all surprising: one of Richard's idols growing up was Muhammad Ali.
"[Muhammad] understood how to manipulate the world," Richard reflected to Sports Illustrated in their July profile. "When he said, 'The champ is here,' he probably wasn't that cocky. He created a persona. He was a leader, an entertainer, and he knew how to break people down in the ring. I didn't really care about boxing, but I wanted to be like Ali."
