The Walking Dead: Rick Grimes and Michonne’s Best Moments
Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) are both total badasses, which masks a more human side to the pair: They're both awkward as hell. It is here, in that fluffy center, that Rick and Michonne's best moments come to light. While those not looking closely might see cold exchanges, Richonne shippers have seen something that's been there for a while: shyness. And adorableness. And meant-to-be-ness. This is not even to mention Michonne’s growing affectionate relationship with Rick’s son Carl (Chandler Riggs).
Here are some of our favorite Rick and Michonne moments that prove they need to get together already.
For many, "Welcome to the Tombs" is the origin of the Richonne relationship, and not just because it's the first time they meet. Rick and Carl save Michonne's life outside the prison fence, and then take her in — even though she was carrying Maggie and Glenn's loot.
Michonne thanked Rick for taking her in. Rick responded, "If you didn't have that baby formula, I wouldn't have."
"You could have just taken the formula," Michonne pointed out.
"Well, it must have been something else then," said Rick in one of his top 10 warmest moments ever (still pretty cold).
"[Carl] said you belong here," Rick clarified. "You're one of us."
It's all on Carl! Sure, Rick. We're all making this face at you right now.
When Michonne told Rick, after an escape from Woodbury, "you need me," on the surface she was trying to cement her way into the group. But underneath, we know what she really meant.
Richonne shippers got a nice little treat right at the beginning of Season 4! When Michonne rides back into the prison after a supply run, Rick tells her, "We're glad to see you."
By "we" he obviously means himself, which Michonne picks up on, we think! She replies "Glad to see you, too."
"Are you going to stay for a while?" Rick asks. "Just a little while," Michonne responds before handing Rick a razor and informing him that his face "is losing the war."
As Michonne prepares to go on a supply run, she asks Carl why he doesn't wear his hat anymore. While the exchange is mostly between Michonne and Carl, at the end, when Carl asks, "see you soon?" and Michonne responds "pretty soon," Rick gives a half second of a glance to Michonne that is just precious. He sees that Michonne has become a protector for Carl, in a way that he can’t be because Carl is his son.
