Rihanna’s Makeup Line Is Set to Slay the Beauty Industry
Rihanna, the ultimate girl’s girl, launched her FENTY Beauty company and makeup junkies are in bliss.
Not only are people itching to get the It Girl’s sleek and clean makeup style, but because since its inception, Rihanna promised the beauty line would be inclusive for all women, something that's non-existent in the cosmetic world.
Because of this, the noted "fashion killer" created an exuberant number of foundation shades and competitors need to beware.
After focusing on her beauty products for two years, the Barbadian beauty debuted a liquid foundation ranging in 40 shades, among other products that will steal your heart.
While interviewing with a variety of beauty editors in Brooklyn, Rihanna shared the vision she has for her consumers: "I wanted things that I love. Then I also wanted things that girls of all skin tones could fall in love with."
"That was really important for me. In every product I was like: ‘There needs to be something for a dark-skinned girl; there needs to be something for a really pale girl; there needs to be something in-between,’" she explained.
"There’s red undertones, green undertones, blue undertones, pink undertones, yellow undertones — you never know, so you want people to appreciate the product and not feel like: ‘Oh that’s cute, but it only looks good on her.’"
To drive home her all-encompassing message that every woman can use her products, the 29-year-old superstar hired a variety of models who are of every shade, race, and creed.
Refinery 29 reports models such as Duckie Thot, Paloma Elsesser, Halima Aden and Slick Woods were a part of her marketing campaign.
To commemorate the launch of FENTY Beauty, Rihanna covered ELLE Magazine's October Issue.
Instead of solely reporting the interview with a reporter of their own, ELLE asked the "Work" singer's celebrity friends and fans to also join in the fun, asking the RocNation artist questions they've been dying to know the answer to.
For example, magician David Copperfield said, "I can make you disappear and reappear anywhere in the world. Where do you want to go, and why?"
She said, with her answer dripped in wit, "Ten minutes before I lost my virginity…and I’m holding you to that offer."
Rihanna also disclosed when she first wore lipstick and why it made her feel like a daredevil.
"Lipstick always got me in trouble. Whether it was at home as a kid or my early teenage years in my career, I always had the urge to wear it. So I broke all those rules. Now lipstick is like my lil [sic] secret weapon!"
