Rihanna’s Mom Steals the Show at 2013 American Music Awards — Watch Her Adorable Speech! (VIDEO)
Rihanna may have won the first-ever AMA Icon Award at the 2013 American Music Awards on November 24, 2013 — but it was her mother Monica Braithwaite who really stole the show.
After a sexy, simple performance of “Diamonds,” RiRi received her Icon award from her mom, who, like a proud mother, gave an emotional speech for her daughter:
Rihanna, I’m so proud of you tonight. I know the journey and your career has not always been an easy one, but tonight I applaud and admire you for being so strong and so positive and so humble and so focused. And I mean, it’s amazing how you always manage to take good from all your experiences. I’m so pleased to be a part of this historic moment and I just want to say I’m proud to present to you the first ever AMA Icon Award.
Could RiRi's mom be any cuter? As Rihanna's number one fan, we can only imagine how proud Monica is of her daughter, who presenter Bill Maher dubbed, "the voice of our generation." (And here we thought that accolade belonged to Hanna Horvath — sorry, Lena Dunham!)
Are you excited for tonight's AMAs? Did you love Rihanna's mom as much as we did? Sound off in the comments!
