When one thinks of the words "reserved" and "tight-lipped," one does not think of Rihanna. True to form, the Unapologetic singer held forth on a variety of topics in a freewheeling Glamour profile — spilling her thoughts on everything to her name to "gangsta" British royals.

Rihanna consistently wows us — or, at least, shocks us — with her edgy wardrobe, and now the 25-year-old Barbadian tells the magazine that her passion for all things sartorial started at home.

"My admiration for fashion … started with my mom," she reveals. "I used to watch her get dressed. She was around my age right now, and she was so fly. So fly. I remember not even knowing how to do that because I was such a tomboy."

She also credits her mom with bolstering her confidence: "I had to regain my fearlessness … My mother said [a few years ago], 'I’ve seen something in your eyes I’ve never seen before: fear … This is not you.' I just got back to being OK with myself."

But now that's she's a grown "good girl gone bad," whose fashion sense does she idolize?

"Oh my God, are you kidding me? Nicole Richie," she touts. "She just pisses me off, she's so good. But you know who is the best who ever did it? Princess Diana. She was like — she killed it. Every look was right. She was gangsta with her clothes. She had these crazy hats. She got oversize jackets. I loved everything she wore."

We knew that Princess Di — aka Prince William's late mother and Prince George's would-be grandmother — inspired millions, but we never would have linked her with Rihanna's style!

Do you see any Dianian influences in Rihanna's garb? Or is that a stretch? Let us know below!
