On the latest pit stop of her global tour, Rihanna spent the weekend touring the capital city of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi. Unfortunately, the pop diva reportedly didn’t stick to the traditional touristy snapshots while out doing her sightseeing.
In a statement from Abu Dhabi’s Grand Mosque, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the mosque’s leaders say they asked Rihanna to leave after she posed for photos considered to violate the “sanctity” of the holy site.
Rihanna was, according to the statement, in an off-limits area for visitors. When she came for a private visit to the mosque she was found “at a gate that is not reserved for visitors, without prior coordination with the Centre’s management and without identifying herself,” reads the notice. Quick question: Rihanna needed to identify herself?
As of publishing, the international superstar has not publicly commented on the incident. She has, however, posted photos to her Instagram of herself at the famous historical site. In the images, she appears to be dressed according to the Grand Mosque’s rules.
Covered head to toe in black, RiRi struts her stuff in photos worthy of a glossy high fashion magazine. Maybe Rihanna got so caught up in her picture snapping she just happened to wander into a no tourists around zone? Or maybe she needed some more light? Maybe?
