Halloween is a day for dressing up, scaring small children, and looking completely different than average. Funny, then, that Rihanna and Karrueche Tran, both inexorably linked to Chris Brown, wore essentially the exact same thing. Especially considering they normally want nothing to do with one another.

RiRi and Karrueche both went as a pretty controversial stereotype, Karrueche captioning her pic “Chola” on October 27, and Rihanna captioning one of many pics “Shy Girl” in her native Barbados on October 31. While we would like to spend some time discussing the fact that the word “Chola” is often used in a derogatory way, and that neither Rihanna nor Karrueche belong to the ethnic groups associated with the term, can we just all agree that these two dressed as the same thing for Halloween?

In Rihanna’s case, she went out with a group of friends, all dressed in the same way, but she took a zombie angle by painting her body entirely in shades of grey, with blood spattered on her bra. She sported the look four days after Chris Brown’s current girlfriend did — albeit, looking a little more alive — and fans of the two have been debating the origin of RiRi’s look in the Instagram feeds of both.

Was Rihanna copying Karrueche? Trying to show her up by adding the undead element? Possibly. Was she mocking her? Also possible. There has been no love lost between the two, as both have dated R&B singer Chris Brown on multiple occasions, often simultaneously and sometimes passing one another with narrow margins.

Last year, it was rumored that Rihanna banned “KT” from her Halloween party, so it’s a definite possibility that the singer was at least aware of what her sometimes-rival wore.

What do you think of the whole situation: Did one of them wear it “best”? Were both equally offensive? Did Rihanna try and mock or beat Karrueche? Are you just chocking it all up to a crazy coincidence? Is it a totally non-offensive, normal Halloween costume? We’re curious to hear your opinions.
