Rihanna, we’re a little disappointed in you. The “We Found Love” singer has been accused of cyberbullying a teenage fan this week after she designed an outfit for her prom that echoed a getup that Rihanna first wore on the red carpet herself.
The 16-year-old high school student from Baltimore, Alexis Carter, recreated the outfit Rihanna wore to the 2010 Echo Awards for her Hollywood-themed prom. Alexis’s version of the outfit was remarkably close to what Rihanna wore: A jumpsuit featuring bat-like wings.
Unfortunately, once Rihanna caught wind of Alexis’s outfit, her first reaction wasn’t to congratulate her on a job well done — instead, she made the picture into an Instagram vs. Real Life joke where Rihanna’s outfit is the more glamorous Instagram shot and Alexis’s version is Real Life. She also posted a photo of just Alexis’s outfit, plus the Wu Tang Clan symbol.
And according to the New York Daily News, Alexis was crushed to find out someone who she admires so much could be so cruel.
“I was very offended,” Alexis said. “Why throw shade on it when you had on the exact same thing? The poses was different but the outfit wasn’t. She doesn’t love her fans like she says she does.”
Rihanna was obviously just trying to be funny, but at the expense of one of her own young fans? Not okay, Rihanna. Not cool.
