And just like that, Rihanna, queen of the clapback, has set her eyes on girl group TLC and made them her newest targets.
During their first ever sold out concert in Australia, TLC’s Tionne “T-BOZ” Watkins and Rozonda “Chili” Thomas spoke very candidly on a morning news show about newer artists using sex to sell music, and when the topic shifted towards Rihanna, who recently bared her lady lumps at the CFDA Awards on June 2 in a see-through fishnet Swarovski gown, the duo had some interesting things to say.
“Everytime I see you, you don’t have to be naked. And it’s hard for us for to say anything because everytime we say something it’s ‘oh TLC they must be jealous.’ Let me say this — it is, what it is. I call a spade, a spade,” T-Boz said, adding, “We sold and became the biggest selling girl group of all time with our clothes on. That says a lot. It’s easy to sell sex.”
And that quote was all it took for RiRi to dig into the archives, find a photo of TLC back in the day (with member Lisa “Left Eye” Lopez) clutching their bare breasts in baggy rompers, and use it as her header photo on Twitter. Oh, and it didn’t stop there.
Rihanna, the mistress of shade, went on to post several photos of herself that basically express that way she feels about the situation.
“When there's no changing the fact that I'm me, and they're well...they're them,” RiRi captioned a photo of herself sticking out her tongue with bright eyes. As you would expect, the Rihanna Navy went on the attack and stormed T-Boz’s Twitter wall with a barrage of comments and questions, prompting her to respond:
“Last time I checked I didn't say no bodies name the interview lady did s— I'm out of the country lol I didn't even see pics,” T-Boz tweeted in her defense. According to T-Boz, “Looks like folks need 2 research I didn't see a show or pics I'm in Australia if 1 person says something they run with it not knowing smh,” but still stands behind her right to say what she wants.
