Nothing scares Rihanna, not even Madea’s wrath! The world-famous singer has reportedly turned down a role in an upcoming Tyler Perry movie because, as RadarOnline.com puts it, his films are so last year.
Where she’d get that idea? Here’s where the story gets a bit weird. Radar claims Rihanna’s taking a page out of the late Whitney Houston’s book. The pop icon once supposedly told Rihanna at a party that, as a Radar source has it, “Tyler’s films are for fading black stars, not rising ones.” Need some aloe for that burn, Tyler?
Whether it’s Whitney’s advice she’s listening to or just her own ambitions, Rihanna’s reportedly “pointedly avoiding meeting” with the Hollywood exec even though he’s “hoping to build a movie around her.”
If such a project is actually in the works (and, you know, Rihanna isn’t ignoring Tyler’s calls), it would be the first film where the singer would take center stage. Despite being more famous for her musical skills, she’s actually got a few acting credits to her name. Most notably, she appeared as Petty Officer Cora Raikes in the 2012 action flick Battleship. In fact, the way Radar has it, if Tyler’s seriously interested in signing Rihanna to a new project he should ditch any rom-com scripts.
“She thinks she works better in action roles, playing the tough girl,” says the source. May we suggest Madea v. Rihanna: Thunderdome Edition?
