Are Chris Martin and Rihanna taking their "Princess of China" chemistry to the next level?
Gossip hounds' tongues are wagging after RiRi and the Coldplay frontman were spotted sharing a meal at the romantic restaurant Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica on June 9.
Word is, Rihanna was "laughing and smiling" throughout their dinner, per E! Online.
The two music superstars have known each other for at least three years — they recorded the electropop track "Princess of China" in 2011 for Coldplay's 2012 album Mylo Xyloto, a song that the band wrote with Rihanna in mind.
"We did a show in Las Vegas and I met her and said, 'Do you think there's any chance?'" Chris toldThe Sun in 2011. "I was very Hugh Grant-like and spluttering about it."
In the ensuing music video — filmed like a romantic martial-arts flick — Chris and Rihanna play dueling lovers.
The dinner date comes a couple of months after Chris's announcement that he and wife Gwyneth Paltrow have separated — and a few weeks after Rihanna's reported breakup with occasional boytoy Drake.
