Never mind that short-lived Duets show. ABC has another contender in the singing competition game, Rising Star, for which it has enlisted A-list talent.
Kesha and Ludacris will join Brad Paisley on the show's judging panel, Deadline reports. Additionally, Josh Groban will host the show, which premieres on June 22.
Not so coincidentally, all four stars will appear together at ABC's 2014 Billboard Music Awards this Sunday, May 18, with Ludacris hosting the star-studded ceremony.
So what makes this sing-off different than American Idol, The Voice, The X Factor, and all the others? According to the network, Rising Star "completely reinvents the traditional singing competition as — for the first time ever — the audience has the final say in real time."
During the live episodes, viewers will vote for their favorites through an app, and a singer will make it to the next level if a certain threshold of votes is met.
Not only that, the singers will even be able to see how the voting is going during their performances. It's like the spinning (or not spinning) chairs on The Voice — except multiplied by millions, which makes it so much crueler/cooler!
